About the category Threaded

Threaded headsets are used only for threaded forks.

It is the oldest headset and com. system used in freestyle scootering.

We find it only in cheap scooters up to 3,000 CZK.

They consist of a wreath of balls, bowls, a fork ring, and two nuts that are tightened against each other (these are so-called. counter nuts).

Advantages: inexpensive headset

Disadvantages: wears out faster, needs to be constantly tightened

Assembly: Carefully hammer the cups without bearings into the board. They must be hammered in straight. We insert the bearings into the cups. The balls must be towards the bowls! We place a ring on the fork (flatter bottom, included in the package with some forks), and thread the fork through the board. We put nuts on the fork. Mothers are so-called. Locknuts, they are tightened towards each other to prevent loosening.

How to extend the lifespan of a headset:

  • always keep the headset tightened
  • keep it clean
  • occasionally clean it and apply some oil.
