How to Choose Protectors

21. September 2022

Are you unsure about choosing protectors? We have a guide for you on how to do it!

To ensure that helmets, pads, or gloves protect you as best as possible, they must fit well and be properly worn and secured. Protectors of the wrong size will not adequately protect you in a fall.

Always follow the instructions for use and ensure that the protector is properly fitted before use.

HELMETS

  • Ensure that the helmet fits comfortably, is not too tight, does not cause pressure on any part of the head, and is not too loose. The helmet should not move at all on the head and should not have any play. It must not be worn in a way that exposes the forehead, and it must not interfere with the eye area of the face.
  • Before use, always ensure that the safety straps are tightened and fastened securely under the chin. They must not be tightened to the point of restricting your breathing. The buckle must be fastened when in use.
  • 1) Determining the helmet size

Using a tailor's tape measure, measure the circumference of the head as indicated in picture A. You should aim for the widest circumference of the head over the crown and forehead.

KNEE AND HAND PROTECTORS

Ensure that the protectors fit comfortably, do not pinch you anywhere, and have no slack.

  • 1) Determining the size of the wrist guard

To choose the correct size, measure the circumference of the wrist (see. image).

  • 2) Determining the size of the elbow protector

To choose the correct size, measure the circumference of the arm approximately 2-3 cm above the elbow (see. image).

  • 3) Determining the size of knee pads

To choose the correct size, measure the circumference of the leg approximately 3-5 cm above the knee (see. image).

GLOVES AND WRIST GUARDS

  • Properly fitting gloves should not pinch you anywhere, should not restrict finger movement, and should not have any slack.

Determining Glove Size

  • 1) Hand

Measure the length of the palm from the tip of the middle finger to the wrist.

  • 2) Palm

Measure the width of the palm.

  • 3) Wrist

Measure the width of the wrist.

  • 4) Determining the size of the wrist guard

To select the correct size, measure the circumference of the wrist (see. image).
