• Used to tighten the headset so that the handlebars do not move
• In freestyle scooters, we have ICS, HIC, IHC, SPIDER HIC, SCS and threaded fork nuts

SCS

A large clamp that has 2 diameters (smaller for the fork, larger for the handlebars), one of the strongest systems, handlebars must not have a notch.

Procedure: attach to the fork, SCS has a washer and a screw, the fork must not be larger than the SCS (otherwise use spacers). I insert the washer and screw into the SCS and then tighten the screw to the fork, tightening from top to bottom, attach the handlebars and tighten the side screws.

SCS tighten to handlebars without a notch or use a Bar adapter, which we insert into the handlebars!

Advantages:

• strongest compression
• handlebars without a notch (the system is stronger, handlebars won't break easily)
• you can use all types of handlebars (HIC, standard, and aluminum, but without a notch)

Disadvantages:

• heavy compression system
• if you have a fork longer than SCS, a spacer or fork shortening is necessary

ICS and ICS10

The oldest compression system, a simple screw + star nut, which was placed inside the handlebars, the screw was tightened to the star nut, and the handlebars then did not move

Advantages:

• the system is cheap

Disadvantages:

• if the screw head is destroyed. It is difficult to disassemble the system
• the hedgehog may slip in some steel handlebars or stainless steel (only for handlebars with an internal diameter of 32 mm)
• the system loosens

HIC

Washer with screw.The pad is pressing on the headset. We tighten the bolt from the top into the fork through the washer. The fork has either a thread or an expander.

Aluminum handlebars and handlebars with a standard internal diameter of 28 mm are not used, but HIC handlebars with an internal diameter of 32 mm (external diameter is 35 mm) are used.

Advantages:

• firm compression system
• does not easily loosen

Disadvantages:

• only for HIC handlebars with an internal diameter of 32 mm

IHC

The fork has a smaller diameter than standard (it is narrower), all types of handlebars with an internal diameter of 28mm can be used for this compression

Works the same as HIC

Must not be mixed with other compresses!!

Advantages:

• lightweight compression system

Disadvantages:

• the fork itself is narrow, so it may bend
• more suitable for skatepark riding

Spider HIC

Only for Chilli forks that have grooves.

I will place a special Spider HIC ring from the headset onto the fork, then compress the fork into the grooves, attach the headset cover, and tighten with a screw.

The compression must not be tightened too much, as it may cause the tabs to spread at the top, making it impossible to attach the handlebars.

This compression system is used on standard handlebars with an internal diameter of 28 mm or aluminum handlebars

Advantages:

• solid compression system
• thanks to this system, the scooter is lighter

Disadvantages:

• The Spider HIC ring can be damaged if improperly installed (the notch from the ring must not be under the tab (otherwise the ring will be damaged))
• Delicate handling, more attention when tightening
• Only for Chilli Spider forks

Threaded Compression System

Headset that has nuts.

So-called Locknuts – These are nuts that tighten against each other.

The fork must always be threaded!!Also always use a threaded headset!  

I will tighten the nuts to the fork, tighten the lower nut to the upper nut, and it won't move anymore.

advantages:

• the system is very cheap

disadvantages:

• threaded fork (as if the tube is cut, it breaks sooner)
• cheap headset (wears out sooner)
• it is difficult to tighten the nuts so that the handlebars do not wobble
