"For my first signature urban skate, I collaborated with the Powerslide design team to create my own personalized version of the brand's flagship Hardcore Evo. I modified the design to meet my exact requirements and created a skate specially adapted for intensive urban and freeride skating.

I am very proud to present the Sam Crofts Evo 2022. I used the silhouette of the Hardcore Evo 2021 as the basis of the design, and I first decided to remove the straps and toe caps since I don't do slalom and have been removing them from my other HC Evo's for a few years to help give the skates a more classic sneaker aesthetic. As I have always loved night skating and also inspired by some of my current favourite boot designs, I created a design based on 3M reflective elements. Including full reflective side panels, waxed hockey style laces with 3M reflective patches and reflective handles and accents.

This created a dual-look skate, a cool grey and silver model in the day, but with a completely unique 3M reflective look that really stands out at night. I've also added a slightly softer than usual transparent cuff for extra comfort during longer sessions but still providing enough support for gaps and slides etc..

The complete skates come with Powerslide's latest urban TRINITY assembly, the 4x80mm Combat Rocker Frame. For me personally, given the new Combat 4x80mm rocker system, the Combat 4x80mm is the optimal setup in terms of balancing agility and stability, thanks to its 260mm length and multiple rocker options. And what's really great about the Combat 80 frame is that you can ride them with 84mm wheels. The Powerslide Combat Rocker frame is designed as the ultimate inline freeride frame, the heart of this new frame is the revolutionary HXG rocker spacers. The hexagonal spacers can be easily adjusted to six different positions, meaning that each wheel can be rocked individually, creating an almost endless range of rocking options so you can truly tailor the skates to your personal needs. The frame is lightweight and strong, made of 6061 aerospace aluminium and perfectly machined on CNC machines. Minimalist design and unique triple void construction give Combat frames exceptional performance. I chose it in a classic industrial silver finish that complements the overall look of the skates. Finally, as a professional Undercover Wheels rider, I of course added their high speed 80mm Raw White wheels and Wicked Abec 9 bearings.

This is without a doubt the best urban model I've ever used, it's a real dream come true to see this design come to fruition and to share my vision of the HC Evo with the urban world." - Text by Sam Crofts
